for advising and guiding me towards the accomplishment of the research. I am very lucky to
get Dr. Md. Tauhid Ur Rahman, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, MIST as my
co-supervisor. My board of examination was so supportive and helpful that I could rectify
their observations as they desired. My special felicitation remains for Professor Dr Md
Mujibur Rahman for his guidance. I am thankful to all faculty members and staffs of Civil
Engineering Department, MIST for rendering their continuous support in my work. I am
indebted to my wife Dr Summyia Nazmeen and two daughters Suha and Tuba who have
inspired me to complete my thesis work. My mother as usual had been my motivation
throughout the research. I also sincerely acknowledge to Director General and all of officers
and members of Border Guard Bangladesh who all have allowed and helped me to continue
and complete this work successfully.
In the process of thesis work, I was enormously helped by BGTC&C authority, Dhaka South
City Corporation Waste Management Team and people working in JICA project. Chittagong
City Corporation especially Halisahar Office also helped a lot in my works.
I am thankful to all the authors of research papers which I have consulted and referred in my
