description First and foremost I would like to thank Almighty Allah for giving us the strength, knowledge, ability and opportunity to undertake this thesis study and to persevere and complete it satisfactorily. Without His blessings this achievement would not have been possible. In our journey towards this degree, We have found a teacher, a friend, an inspiration, a role model and a pillar of support in our Guide, Prof Dr. Md Alamgir Hossain, Phd. He has been there providing his heartfelt support and guidance at all times and has given us invaluable guidance, inspiration and suggestions in our quest for knowledge. He has given us all the freedom to pursue our thesis, while silently and non-obtrusively ensuring that I stay on course and do not deviate from the core of our work. Without his able guidance, this thesis would not have been possible and I shall eternally be grateful to him for his assistance. We would also like to express our gratitude to Sqd ldr Mousumi Rizia who has been so helpful and cooperative in giving her support at all times to help us to achieve our goal. It would be inappropriate if We omit to mention the name of Lec Jawad, who has kept us going on our path to success, assisting us as per his ability, in whatever manner possible and for ensuring that good times keep flowing. This research could not have been done if the Lab Assist Md Rabiul and Md Raju would not helped us to setup the instrumentation for the single-cylinder and gave us permission to run “unknown” fuels in the diesel engine.
